The Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland is perhaps the most iconic mountain in the world. At 4,478 meters it is not quite the highest peak in Switzerland, but certainly one of the most challenging. The ascent requires 6 days with the first three for training and acclimatization.

Typical training climbs include Castor, Pollux and a traverse of the Britehorn, all of which are 4,000 meter peaks in their own right!

The ascent requires one day for the approach to the Hornli Hut, one for the climb up and down the Hornli Ridge, and another to return to Zermatt. A 7-8 day tour is recommended for better acclimatization, better chance at a good weather window, and more peak bagging in the area!
