Alpine climbing generally refers to climbing in the bigger mountains. It could be alpine rock like the Grand Teton, glacier travel in the North Cascades or mixed snow and rock as found in Colorado. The European Alps are the birthplace of alpinism and everyone should pay homage. The destination is often the summit, but the experience is in the journey.
