“Steve guided me across the Maroon Bells traverse in Colorado. This is a notoriously difficult and dangerous route and had been a bucket-list item for me for years. I was reluctant to go it alone (with limited mountaineering experience) so I went through a guide service. When I arrived at the guide shop the day before our climb the owner said something to the effect of "oh, you're with Steve, you couldn't be in better hands. He's the person we rely on if there is ever a problem, he's the best out there". That could not have been a more true statement. Steve was clearly very accomplished in guiding through dangerous terrain. He was able to reinforce me during moments I was wondering what the hell I’m doing here. More than that, however, was just how fun of a personality he has. An hour or so into our one day trip we were exchanging friendly banter back and forth as we approached the traverse. It was like we were long-time friends. When we finally got back to the parking area at the end of the day I was honestly bummed. My new friend and I were done with the day but agreed to remain in touch. So, pretty shortly after that, I booked a climb with him in the Tetons. I don't think I would go with anyone else. In terms of relying on someone to help me safely climb very treacherous terrain, I wouldn't trust my life in anyone else's hands.

“I would follow Steve anywhere. He's such a good guide, that the experience of being with him becomes the main event. I have heli-skied with him in Iceland, snowcat skied in Crested Butte, and backcountry skied throughout the San Juan Mountains. Up next Japan and one day Greenland. Steve has taught me everything I know about powder skiing and now I can ski down most terrain with confidence. But, most importantly, he has also made me into a much more aware skier. Safety is his number 1 priority. He never compromises when it comes to getting us down the mountain safely. Beyond being a great guide, he is also a great human being. Kind, patient and super interesting - just the kind of person you want to be stuck with in hut during a storm. ”

“Steve has been a heli-ski guide for me in Iceland as well as a ski touring guide in Japan. From the moment you arrive, you have met up with your old friend. Steve puts you at ease and the adventure begins! Steve is an incredible guide. He knows how to make his client feel comfortable on his/her adventure while also pushing your limits just enough to add to that adventure. Steve knows when to be serious and focused in the mountains to keep everyone safe, while also inserting his good humor and love of life into the adventure. I have skied some of my most amazing powder lines with Steve- he knows how to find just the right snow and just the right pitch. He is patient, passionate, careful and fun- a unique combination that will give anyone their best adventure yet in the mountains!”
